A whistlestop tour: Some key designers for this season
Alembika
Designed by Hagar Alembik, the Alembika brand creates garments featuring strong silhouettes embellished with vibrant colours. Its ethos is to encourage women to embrace their body and to accept themselves just the way they are. The designs emanate this bold confidence and strive to illustrate the brand’s philosophy that clothing should be created to suit women’s bodies of all shapes and sizes, as opposed to women trying to make their bodies adapt to clothing and fashions.
Barbara Speer
Designed for women who want to express their confidence through contemporary styles, Barbara Speer was founded in Germany and has been creating radical fashion garments for over thirty years. Giving women the choice of either extravagant or casual designs, the brand corresponds well with the Lagenlook given the ethereal, flowing design shown in many of the garments.
Kokomarina
Established by french designer Antoine Coelenbier, Kokomarina was originally sold on a small scale through quaint markets in Southern France. Today the brand is sold worldwide, with the drive behind its designs stemming from the designer’s philosophy that individuality should shine through in women’s clothing. Emanating a bohemian-chic and casual style, the clothing range features bold cuts which create interesting silhouettes and often feature demure, muted tones.
Xenia Design
Founded by internationally renowned Croatian designer Ksenija Vrbanic, garments within the Xenia Design range combine an acknowledgement of fashion trends, including contemporary materials and colours, with expertise in creating unusually crafted clothing. The focus behind the brand is to empower women to wear standout clothing whilst being safe in the knowledge that what they are wearing receives the fashion nod of approval.
Yiannis Karitsiotis
Named after the Greek designer himself, the Yiannis Karitsiotis brand creates garments which are cut in courageous and extravagant styles that aim to impress, and many garments are ideal to incorporate into your own individual Lagenlook given the flowing, loose nature of the designs. The brand strives to rebel against the body-conscious borders imposed by many modern-day fashion trends; layered and oversized pieces are a common feature of this brand philosophy.
Remember, there are other key designers to look out for; we have only focused on a hand full here! For more, check out Hebbeding, Moyuru, Nuovo Borgo and Rundholz, to name but a few… We love them all so much, here at idaretobe we had trouble deciding who to feature!
