Summer is finally here and that always means we’ve got an exciting event coming up. Whether it’s a wedding invitation or one of those annual special occasions (for us it’s Royal Ascot and the Henley Boat Races) we love to have an excuse to really dress up and make that extra effort. It’s all part of the fun! So with outfit planning high on the agenda here’s our pick of occasion wear pieces to whet your appetite.

High on our list are the gorgeous Ralston Orange Stripe and Lilac Stripe Linen Balloon Dresses. A flattering shape combined with beautiful bright summer colours and a premium linen fabric. Factor in the matching wrap and hat and it adds up to a stunning occasion look.

Summer means florals but forget Laura Ashley, we love Okishi’s modern take on a floral print. Bold, oversized blooms adorn a chic, simple shape for contemporary summer style. Xenia Design’s Green Sila Printed Silk Dress also does modern floral beautifully with a stylised design in gorgeous greens and blues.

Of course dressing for the British summer means including a cover up and a fabulous jacket is a perfect way to add new life to your favourite outfit. We love the Xenia Design Soli Print Silk Bolero to add a splash of colour to a plain piece such as the Madelaine Charles Black Lindsey Linen/Silk Dress. For wow factor the Nuovo Borgo Statement Weave Jacket is a truly special piece.

Occasion wear doesn’t always have to be a dress and separates are the ideal solution to getting more wear from your outfit. Kedziorek’s Exquisite Check Printed Silk Tunic and Exquisite Check Printed Silk Trouser make a chic ensemble, but are easily mixed with other pieces for a less dressy occasion. The Fili Floral Print Asymmetric Shirt and Opo Floral Print Pleat Skirt from Ivan Grundahl just had to make it on our list. In fresh white with a vibrant floral print, these pieces are summer personified.
